The Rape Abduction of the Sabine Woman Sculpture
The story of The Rape (or Abduction) of the Sabine Woman comes to us from Roman mythology. "After Rome was established in 750 BCE the male population was in need of women to propogate the Roman lineage and to ensure the success of Rome." After failed negotiations with the town of Sabine, Roman men began to abduct their women. The original marble is located in Florence, Italy in the Loggia del Lanzi.
Constructed of composite material. Mounted on black marble base.
